Kristin brings more than 20 years of experience in the legal field to all of the matters she handles. Prior to joining Bailey & Glasser, Kristin served as General Counsel for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection for almost 10 years. She advised the Cabinet Secretary and all the Department’s agencies on issues ranging from regulatory compliance, transition of bonds and permits in bankruptcy proceedings, to personnel actions and compliance with state regulations. Her responsibilities also included oversight and proposed and pending legislation and rulemaking. Kristin supervised the legal services division, including all legal actions brought by or defended by the Department of Environmental Protection. Prior to serving as General Counsel, Kristin held Associate General Counsel position from November 2008 until September 2010, when she was appointed as General Counsel.
Prior to her role with the Department of Environmental Protection, she litigated as an associate at Goodwin & Goodwin, LLP; managed a huge docket as a litigation paralegal at McQueen Harmon & Potter, PLLC, and worked as the executive paralegal at the Alcohol Beverage Control Administration. Always interested in the legal system, Kristin’s first job was as a clerk for Gallia County (Ohio) Common Pleas Court Judge Joseph A. Cain.
Kristin graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and from the West Virginia University College of Law. She is admitted to practice before West Virginia’s state and federal courts, the Fourth Circuit Court of appeals, and the West Virginia Legislature.
