$17 Million Settlement Reached in Aetna Data Breach Class Action
Patricia Kipnis of Bailey Glasser was proud to represent one of the class representatives in the recent settlement with Aetna over a data breach that occurred in the summer of 2017. The class consisted of 12,000 people whose privacy was compromised when Aetna disclosed that they had been taking HIV drugs, by revealing the information through clear windows of envelopes. The $17 million settlement, which is awaiting approval in federal court, is believed to be the largest per person payout for any kind of data breach.
