When lawsuits involve dangerous drugs and medical devices, product defects, and other complex issues affecting large numbers of people, sometimes the state and federal courts use multidistrict litigation (MDL) to better manage the cases.
Overview
In MDL matters, multiple civil cases sharing a common issue are transferred to a single court. That court handles all discovery and pretrial proceedings for the lawsuits. The goal of MDL is to conserve resources and foster consistent court rulings across different lawsuits that involve similar legal issues.
Bailey Glasser MDL lawyers hold leadership positions in numerous multidistrict litigations, including those cases that address defective medical devices, consumer fraud, and defective automotive. We are honored to participate in appointments of this nature, to ensure the combination of claims in a single forum will increase the plaintiffs’ leverage by permitting counsel to pool their resources and to work for the plaintiffs’ common benefit.
