Bailey Glasser Offers Legal Services to West Virginia Cannabis Industry
The West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis has announced they will begin to accept applications on December 19, 2019, from companies seeking to operate as marijuana growers, processors, distributors or laboratories within the state. This is the first step in the process of permitting industry applicants.
Bailey Glasser has amassed considerable experience representing clients involved in the cannabis industry. Specifically, West Virginia clients have sought advice with respect to applying for licenses issued under the West Virginia Medical Cannabis Act, W. Va. Code § 16A-1-1, et. seq. Our client roster also includes producers and distributors with operations in states such as Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, and Oregon, and we have represented supply-side companies selling goods and services to cannabis suppliers.
The team also has experience advising clients on the complicated interplay between state laws that permit cannabis production and distribution and potential enforcement of federal laws such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) under which cannabis is classified as a prohibited Schedule I narcotic.
