Overview
Of Counsel Aliya S. Khalidi is a member of the firm’s nationally recognized Mass Torts Practice Group, where she represents individuals harmed in institutional settings or through other wrongful injuries. Her work includes representing hundreds of childhood sexual abuse survivors across multiple states, including Maryland and Illinois.
Aliya is a skillful trial lawyer who has handled complex investigations, trials, negotiations, and appeals as a prosecutor for over 13 years. In her work she handled federal and state misdemeanor and felony criminal investigations, motions practice, and jury trials. She also has deep experience in appellate litigation, including appearing before three-judge panels.
Aliya taught a course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) about on measuring equity in the criminal system using data collection methods and data analysis. She also planned and executed a three-month intensive training program for assistant district attorneys and interns including topics such as ethics, community engagement, victim advocacy, and trial advocacy.
Aliya earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, where she was selected as the school’s commencement speaker upon graduation. Additionally, Aliya won the John E. Fenton, Jr. Public Service Award, the Pro Bono Service Award, Pro Bono Honors, among other accolades.
Aliya earned her B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Wellesley College and currently serves on the Wellesley College Alumnae Association as a Board Member.
She is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. Aliya is fluent in Urdu and Hindi and served as the 2019 President of the National Association of Muslim Lawyers.
